Love is the Purpose

“What is our purpose?”

It’s a scary question. Some might say it’s a pointless question.

Some people don't think they have a purpose. Others think that life in itself is purposeless.

“Pursue pleasure, pursue impulse, pursue flesh and lust, because this life is fleeting and it has no purpose,” some will say.

Wrong.

Life does have a purpose.
You do have a purpose.

Love is that purpose.

No matter your career, no matter your family situation, no matter your hobbies, no matter your calling, there is one purpose that God calls us all to: love.

To love Christ and love others with Christ-like tenderness is our greatest purpose as His children.

If you’re a musician, show Christ’s love through your music. If you’re a construction worker, show Christ’s love through your behavior towards your coworkers. If you’re a mother, show Christ’s love to your children.

No matter what you feel led to do in life—whether you want to be a missionary, a florist, a writer (*cough*me*cough*), or an interior designer, you’ll always have opportunities to show Christ’s love.

Loving Christ and loving others is life’s greatest purpose. His love—that perfect, never-ending, unfailing love—can never be purposeless.
